Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory Therapy is an allied health discipline offering diagnostic and therapeutic services ordered by a physician.
Community referrals from family practice physicians are conducted on a scheduled outpatient basis.
Some services included are:
- Health promotion and education provided for patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other related respiratory disorders
- Lung function testing
- Arterial blood gases (blood drawn to analyze oxygen, carbon dioxide and ph levels)
- Metered dose inhaler and aerosol treatments (breathing treatments)
Respiratory Therapy supports all Misericordia Health Centre programs with a holistic approach and in accordance with MHC’s Mission and core values of caring, respect and trust.
