Social Work
Social Work is a helping profession that promotes emotional, physical and psychosocial health. Social Workers at the Misericordia Health Centre are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities. Social Workers are skilled in understanding how our whole self is affected during times of stress and illness.
Programs
Social Workers are involved in Long-Term Care - including Interim Care and Misericordia Place - and Acute Care, including: Eye Care Centre of Excellence, Easy Street Rehabilitation, MHC for Lungs, Ambulatory Care and Urgent Care.
Services
Social Work services may include psychosocial assessments, care planning, resource and supportive counselling, advocacy and community referral if required.
Social Workers also provide services to residents, their families, patients and community members through organizing and facilitating:

Family Circle
Retinal Detachment and Vitrectomy Support and Information Group
Ocular Oncology Support Group
Mindfulness Group
Overcoming Anxiety Group
